Get estimates for the work you want done

Contractor must be licensed and insured. Please have the license number written on the estimates

2 comparable itemized estimates for each type of work being done, each one for $15,000 or less

Contractors must itemize the estimate by type of work (give this guideline sheet to the contractor, ESPECIALLY FOR ROOF REPAIRS/REPLACEMENTS)

NOTE: If you cannot get estimates for $15,000 or less, and you can afford to do it, you can set up 2 estimates with the contractor:  one estimate for $15,000 to give to us, and one contract for the amount over $15,000 that is between you and the contractor that you would pay for

Contractor Bid Example:

Dave and Debra need a new furnace, new exterior doors, and windows.

Here is the paperwork needed:

• Estimates from Licensed and Insured Contractors

2 for furnace:   ABC Heating and Cooling

    XYZ Plumbing and Heating

2 for windows and doors:  Bill’s Carpentry *NOTE: Each estimate must be for the same

       JKL Windows & Doors number of windows and the same

number of doors.

• Photos of work to be done

  Picture of front of the house with address number

  Picture of old furnace

  Pictures of outside doors and windows

• Contractor(s) selected by Dave and Debra (2 forms needed, see below)

  ABC Heating and Cooling for furnace

  Bill’s Carpentry for windows and doors
